Alvaro Laguna, Anusara-Inspired Yoga Teacher™

Alvaro discovered yoga in 2001, after racing bicycles for nearly 16 years. Before long, he was completely hooked and began attending workshops with teachers like Bryan Kest, Seane Corn, Rodney Yee, Shiva Rea, Vinnie Marino, and Erich Schiffman. In the spring of 2004, Alvaro completed a level 1 teacher-training program with Baron Baptiste.

In 2002, Alvaro began studying Anusara Yoga® with Ulla and became intrigued with its emphasis on precise alignment, heart qualities, and philosophy. A few years later, he attended his first workshop with John Friend and completed a year-long teacher training program with Naime Jezzeny and Noah Maze. Alvaro also pursues the study of Rajanaka tantra and various spiritual systems.

“When we recognize our own divinity, the divinity in other people and everything around us becomes more apparent,” says Alvaro. He loves long, challenging asana practices that are unconstrained by time. He believes yoga is a vehicle toward physical and internal awareness that can attune students to their intrinsic divine qualities. His intention is to offer an opportunity for self-expression, introspection, and fun.
